Donald M Capps

Donald M. Capps (Mr. Don), age 84, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, May 23, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving wife and children in Navarre, Florida. Donald was born in North Carolina, served in the United States Air Force, and later made Florida his home. He was born on August 16, 1935 in Rocky Mount, North Carolina. Donald joined the United States Air Force at 19 years of age and continued as a dedicated service member for our country for 20 years. He retired and made northwest Florida his home. He transitioned out of active duty to a civilian position working for Vitro Services in Fort Walton Beach. He retired from Vitro in 1996.

Donald was a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach. He is survived by his loving wife Betty Jo Capps of 62 years; children Gail (Jay) Henderson, Calvin (Crystal) Capps, Scott (Kitti) Capps; 6 grandchildren; and 8 great grandchildren; 2 brothers. He was preceded in death by his parents and 5 brothers.

Memorial service will be held 2:00 pm Friday, May 29 at First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach Florida with full military honors. Visitation will be held prior to service at 1:00 pm.   Donald will be laid to rest at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola at a later date.

Donald will greatly be missed by his family and friends who will cherish the memory of his sweet spirit. The family would like to thank Emerald Coast Hospice of Fort Walton Beach, and many doctors that took care of the health of his body. Thank you for the friends, Pastor, and church family for taking care of his spirit. Both of which help prove God’s faithfulness throughout this time of bereavement.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the building fund for First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach and Emerald Coast Hospice in memory of the care that he was provided.
