Tribute

Cullen Michael Coraine passed away on March 23, 2023, at 48. Cullen was born on July 26, 1974, in Nassau, New Hampshire, to Gilbert and Patricia Coraine. After 27 years of cold weather, he moved to Florida.

Cullen attended and then graduated from Northwest Florida State College Law Enforcement Academy in 2003. Cullen began his law enforcement career as a Walton County Sheriff's Office deputy. Cullen took a detour from his law enforcement career, worked as a government contractor, and was stationed in Iraq for a year. After returning stateside, Cullen felt the calling to return to law enforcement. Cullen returned to serving his local community by working as a deputy sheriff with the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office, starting as a patrol deputy and then seven years as a highly decorated School Resource Officer at Liza Jackson Preparatory School. Some of the accolades Cullen was awarded were the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office School Resource Officer of the year in 2018 and the Florida Association of School Resource Officers for the State of Florida in 2019. Cullen helped the Okaloosa Sheriff's Office School Resource Program receive national recognition as a model agency program for all School Resource Officer Programs in the United States. Cullen loved protecting kids and had nicknames and special handshakes for many of them.

In 2016, Cullen met and fell in love with Leiah. They married on July 17, 2018, to settle in Niceville, FL, and start their lives together. Cullen loved anything with wheels and could always be found in the garage tinkering with his racing Mustang, dirt minibike, lawn mower, or anything in-between. Cullen was an advocate and immensely loved dogs and his friends. Cullen would often say, "Drive fast. Take chances."

Cullen is predeceased by his mother, Patricia. He is survived by his wife, Leiah Coraine, father, Gilbert Coraine, and uncle Gerald Coraine. Mother-in-law, Jane Bolin, and brother-in-law Tommy Bolin (Elise). He also leaves his beloved dogs, Chase, Molly, and Recci. Cullen never knew a stranger, always greeted everyone with his infectious smile and shining eyes, and is leaving behind too many "best friends" to count.

Services will be held at Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College on Saturday, April 8th. Visitation will be held from 12 -1 PM, and celebration of life at 1 PM. In lieu of flowers, the family requested donations to the Pretty Pittie Committee or an animal rescue of your choice.
