Cleveland Grover Cockrell was born on April 28, 1948 in Cleveland, Ohio to Sally and Willie Cockrell, who both preceded him in death. He departed this life on January 6, 2021. He resided in Mary Esther, Florida for the last twenty years.
He served and was Honorably Discharged from the United States Air Force for twenty years and twenty days.
He was united in Holy Matrimony to Dorothy Jean Jones-Barnes on May 8, 1982. To this union, one child, Crystal N. Cockrell was born, and four stepchildren: Cassandra Jones, Mary Arruda, Gary Jenkins, Cheryl Grabill (Danny).
He came to know the Lord at an early age. He served as a faithful member at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church of Warrensburg, Missouri, where he received his ordination as Deacon. He also served as a faithful Deacon at Beulah First Baptist Church of Fort Walton Beach from 2000 until his death.
He leaves to mourn five siblings, Rosa Brightwell (Guy), Willie Cockrell, Jr., Shirley Robinson (Andrew), Carolyn Cockrell, and Patricia Roach (Henry), seven grandchildren, Aaron Jones, Olivia Jenkins, Krystle Carreon, Trevalyn Warren-Jones, Damen Carreon, Miels Jenkins, Jasmine Carreon, and Heavenly Cockrell-Bedgood, three great-grandchildren, Davyn Clinton-Jones, True Clinton-Jones, and Jayda Carreon. Cleveland also leaves to mourn numerous nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and friends. We loved him and will miss him forever.

Funeral services will be Friday, January 15, 2021 at 10 AM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Interment will follow at 1 PM at Barrancas National Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, January 14, 2021 from 5 until 7 PM.
