Major Charles Herbert Vellines, age 89, was born to the late Herbert and Edythe (Rollins) Vellines, on November 12, 1929 in Philadelphia, PA. Charles passed away on Thursday, January 3, 2019 at his home in Mary Esther following Alzheimer’s. He was preceded by his first wife, Anne Marie Cavolaski Vellines and son, John Herbert Vellines. Charles served in the USAF for 22 ½ years and retired as a Master Navigator. After retirement, he worked as counterman at Charlies Lawn Mower Repair Shop for another 20 years. He leaves his wife of 34 years, Cela Vellines; son, Charles Edward (Karen); daughter, Virginia Anne (Doug) Hebert, and grandson Keoni Herbert of Oahu, Hawaii. He also leaves a stepdaughter, Lori Wenrich (Dirk) of Crestview and 19 step grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. A visitation will be held on Monday, January 7, 2019 from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road NW, Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at 10:00 am at Emerald Coast funeral home with full military honors. Major Charles Herbert Vellines will be laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
