Charles Chester Patty Jr., 90, of Shalimar, passed away peacefully in his home Saturday, February 13, 2021.  He was born on June 18, 1930 in Sharonville, OH to Charles Chester and Nannie Pearl (Roy) Patty. Charles married Barbara Jean Collins on April 29, 1952 in Chattanooga, TN while on leave from the US Marine Corps. He was very proud of his service from 1952-1954 during the Korean War.

Growing up in Cleveland, TN, he graduated from Bradley County High School and later the University of Chattanooga with a BS in Engineering Physics. Charles was employed by Brown Engineering and by US Civil Service at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, AL, relocating to Eglin Air Force Base in Dec 1976, retiring in 1991. An avid history buff, he loved visiting historical sites, traveling abroad and researching his genealogy.  He also enjoyed camping, boating and water skiing with his wife and children.

Charles is survived by his wife of 68 years, Barbara Collins Patty; his daughters, Carla Patty Pritt and Dara Gail Collie (John); his son, Devin Charles Patty (Stephanie); and his niece Avis Long. He was the proud grandfather of 7 grandchildren; Daniel (Shelby) Pritt, Lauren Pritt, Amy Pritt, Ashley Howe, Kayla Frady, Shannon Frady and Shane Patty. He was preceded in death by both his parents, his sister, Jennie Ruth Long and nephew, Charles Marvin Long of Maryville, TN.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 23, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.  The family will receive friends one hour prior.  Interment will take place at Barrancas National Cemetery at 2:00 P.M.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Autism Speaks, National MS Society or Paralyzed Veterans of America.
