Charles Franklin Jolly, age 76, of Shalimar passed away on November 6th, 2019. Charles was born on January 12th, 1943 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Gordon and Clara Jolly.
Charles was a 1960 graduate of North Dade High School in Miami, and a 1964 graduate of the University of Florida. He served his country with a distinguished 22-year career in the United States Air Force as an officer and fighter pilot, including a tour of duty in Vietnam where he received several medals and commendations. After he retired from active duty at the rank of lieutenant colonel, he served in civil service for many years and then worked as a financial counselor until his final retirement. He also volunteered his time with church and in drug and alcohol counseling. He was a master craftsman who enjoyed tools and building things, fishing, serving his clients and neighbors, and being a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend.
He is preceded in death by his parents Gordon and Clara Jolly.
He is survived by his wife Marjorie Cummins, his sister Joyce Denny, his sons Doug Jolly (Bethany) and David Jolly (Heidi), daughter Liesel Donaldson (Jay), and their mother Ann Jolly, and his grandchildren Rebecca (Jon), Michael, Kay, Max and Ayden, as well as several nieces and nephews.
A private celebration of life service and interment will be held at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Colorado. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Wounded Warrior Project.
