Carolyn Ann Murphy officially gained her angel wings on March 9, 2019. Those who knew her thought she had them all along.
She was born in Altha, Florida on May 6, 1942 to Olan and Mae Belle Williford. She married her soulmate, JT “Jim” Murphy on May 25, 1963 and they settled in Mary Esther to raise their family. She taught first grade at Edwins Elementary for 36 years, and nearly everywhere she went her students or their parents would recognize her and give her a hug. She was a devoted wife, a doting mother and grandmother, a dedicated teacher, a loyal friend and the rarest of all human beings -- a truly kind person.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Olan Deleon, and her beloved son Michael. She is survived by her husband Jim Murphy of Niceville, FL; her daughter Michelle (Greg) McCann of Shalimar, FL; grandson Max McCann of Australia; granddaughter Mia (John) McCann Dougherty of Oklahoma; nephew Jessus Williford and family; niece Lori Pass and family; and two sisters-in-law – Ann Welch and Lois Williford. Though we grievously mourn her passing, we trust her faith carried her gently across the River Jordan and into the arms of Our Lord. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, March 13th, 11:00 am at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, with visitation an hour prior. Burial will follow at Beal Memorial Cemetery. After the burial, family invites anyone with fond memories of Carolyn to gather at Cinco Bayou Town Hall on Yacht Club Drive at 1:00 pm for a reception and refreshments
