Betty Jo Woodward, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, and lifelong, educator peacefully went to heaven on September 16, 2021, at the age of 85. She was born in Red Level, Alabama on February 24, 1936, to C. S. and Verna Williams. She graduated from Red Level High School and received a bachelor's degree in education from Troy State University. On June 14, 1960, she married Danny Woodward, who preceded her in death in 2012.
Betty was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. She served at Destin United Methodist Church for over 35 years. She was currently serving at Crosspoint South in Crestview, Florida, where she led Bible studies in her home.
Betty taught 5th grade at Destin Elementary for over 40 years, where she received many awards as an outstanding educator and mentor. In her later years, she had the privilege of teaching children of her former students. She maintained a lifelong relationship with many of those she taught.
Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Danny Woodward, son Neil Woodward, parents C.S. and Verna Williams, sister and husband Jean and Bob Lloyd, sister and husband Melba and Bill Cole, brother Mack Williams, and beloved sister-in-law Gail Williams.
Betty is survived by her son Scott Woodward and wife, Debbie, Cindy Worrells (widow of her son Neil), brother Joe Williams, sister-in-law Angelica Williams, Grandchildren Kathryn Woodward, Cody Woodward, Molly Woodward, Ashley Spatola, Brandon Martin, Brandi Rotello, and Candice Wolff. She also had 10 great-grandchildren.
There will be a time of visitation with family and friends on Monday, September 20, 2021, from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
A “Celebration of Life” will be Tuesday, September 21, 2021, at Crosspoint South Church on PJ Adams Road in Crestview, Florida at 10:00 am. Expressions of love and sympathy may be placed and viewed online at www.emeraldcoastfuneralhome.com
