Tribute

Ms. Betty Stewart, age 72, of Crestview, Florida, passed away suddenly on Sunday, January 9, 2022.

Betty was born in Cullman, Alabama to Julius and Levada Kanaday Baker.  She spent many years as a military wife, deploying with her first husband and family to many postings, including the Azores, Portugal, where she made many life-long friends.  A delightful hostess and entertainer, she threw countless Tupperware parties and the like.  When she began her own career, she was an active member of the American Business Women’s Association.  After many devoted years of service, she retired from Okaloosa Gas.  In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening with her many beautiful plants and flowers, traveling the globe, and volunteering with various organizations such as, Stephen Ministry, Sharing & Caring, Friendship Club—of which she was treasurer, Bible study, bereavement ministry, church choir, and enjoying time with her friends and family.  More than anything, she cherished the time she spent with her family.  She was a devoted wife, a loving mother and a devoted grandmother.  She loved cooking for her family and having them gather to share family time with love and laughter.

Ms. Stewart is preceded in death by her parents, Julius & Levada Kanaday Baker; and her husband, Ernest Stewart.  She leaves to cherish her loving memory, her children, Jeffrey (Ulaunda) Nunn, Jennifer (Scott) Zamorski, and Charlotte (Roger) Arnold; grandchildren, Dawson, Matthew, Stewart, Jacek, Bryce, and Shelby; a brother, Johnny Baker; and a host of family, loved ones, and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, January 17, 2022, at 1:00 pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, in Fort Walton Beach with Dr. Ron Beardon officiating.  The family will receive guests for visitation an hour prior to the service.  For those unable to attend in person, the service will be live-streamed.   Following the service, Ms. Stewart will be interred at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
