Bessie Elizabeth Berry Nelson was born on October 17, 1932 to Henry and N Doll Berry.

She was born in Montgomery and graduated from Murphy High School in Mobile, AL where she played the clarinet in the band.   She attended nursing school at the Mobile Infirmary.  She was so full of innocent joy and a true Christian who enjoyed family and friends dropping by for a “good cup of coffee”`.  Not a stingy bone in her body.  She retired from customer service at Gulf Power in 1995. Loved by all who knew her.

Bessie is preceded by her parents and her son: Paul Rusty Nelson. She is survived by her husband: Nels Gustaf (NG) Nelson. Children: N Ginger Nelson Padgett, Fred G Nelson and wife-Vickie, Regina A Nelson Shirah, Nels Philip Nelson, Lori Nelson Posey and husband-Jeff.  Sister: Gladys Allen and brothers: William Berry, John Berry and wife-Patricia. Grandchildren: Jenine Mull, Nancy Arellino, Christina Deskin, Jessica Nelson, Gus Nelson, Joseph Nelson, Jim Shirah, Katrina Shirah, Jeffery Posey, Justin Posey and Josh Posey. She loved and treasured 13 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild.

Visitation will be Monday, January 29, 2018 from 5-7 P.M.at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Tuesday, January 30th at 10:00 AM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road, N.W.  Ft. Walton Beach, FL 32547. Interment will follow in Holley Cemetery, Holley, FL
