Momma D came to my mind today. I regret that we drifted apart and only saw each other a few times in the last 30+ years. It seems that we get lulled into thinking we will always have tomorrow or a next time. Life is short - don't waste a minute. Love you, Momma Di. I know that you are telling jokes and saving lots of seats up there in heaven.

Message from Elizabeth Karaffa Bohorquez - Cousin

I just learned today of the passing of my dear cousin Barbara. I have been trying to find her for many years. I don’t know why we lost touch. We were a close family from the time I was a child and kept in touch around the holidays, sharing photos, cartoons and “those sassy jokes.” Barbara also kept in touch with my mother, updating photos of you all and always including those cartoons, some of which set my mother’s hair on fire! Barbara, my Aunt Nancy and Uncle Walter spent holidays together and the “cousins”..Carol and Marilyn came up to Cresskill for long weekends with us. You might have heard stories about Aunt “Lousy” as Barbara fondly addressed my mother Lucy, my brothers John and Edward. I have so many photos, so if any of you would like them, please let me know. I often slept over in your mother’s room, under the huge poster of Gregory Peck...or was it some other actor she loved desperately. She gave me my first “umbrella” when I was about seven. The small apartment was always filled with belly-laughter and good food. Your grandmother was my mother’s sister and the stories abound. I loved them dearly and again, have many photos. Your mother was my favorite cousin...she taught me the gift of laughter, and not to be afraid to share a good joke. She would tell me, “everyone benefits from a good laugh!” As I visit my own memories, she’s often present making me smile. I’ll miss that. God bless you all.
