Barbara Ann DiBenedetto (maiden name - O’Connor)

3 November 1930 – 17 March 2017

Barbara, “Momma D", a woman with a generous heart, audacious spirit, contagious laugh, and awesome sense of humor passed away peacefully on St. Patrick's Day, 17 March 2017.  Barbara was born in Jersey City, New Jersey on 3 November 1930.

Barbara graduated from Holy Family Academy in Bayonne, NJ from 1944-1948. 

Barbara worked as a stenographer for the New York City phone company from 1949-1957.  Barbara was married to Anthony DiBenedetto in 1955.  Barbara moved to Fort Walton Beach in 1968 where she worked at the Black Angus restaurant as a cashier and hostess from 1970 – 2005. She was well known for her loving, kind soul and sassy jokes to all the patrons.  Barbara is preceded in death by her parents; Walter & Anne O’Connor and her son, Matthew James DiBenedetto.   She is survived by her children; Maria Brewer, Anthony DiBenedetto, Stephen DiBenedetto, Anita Gates and Vincent DiBenedetto and her 11 grandchildren and 1 great grandson. A Celebration of Life will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, March 28, 2017 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, Fort Walton, Beach Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
