Anne Hammond Goetz, of Mary Esther, FL, passed away on May 24, 2018.
She was born on January 2, 1938 in East Orange, NJ to Charles and Mathilda Hammond. In 1955, she graduated from Owensboro Catholic High School and continued her education at Brescia College in Owensboro, KY. She married Nick Goetz in 1959 and started a family. Moving frequently during her early life, she settled in Fort Walton Beach, FL in 1972. Anne was accomplished at everything she did. After decades of hard work and dedication to her civil service posts for the United States Air Force she realized her lifelong dream and joined the Foreign Service in 1993. She held many posts during her 10-year tenure living in Rome, Italy; Sofia, Bulgaria; Taiwan, Taipei and Ankara, Turkey. During this time she was able to travel all over the world making wonderful, enduring friendships. In 2003 she retired to Mary Esther, FL where she spent her time with family and friends. Although she was retired, Anne continued to contribute to the community as a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels. In her free time, she enjoyed reading, especially mystery and spy novels, solving crossword puzzles and watching old movies and Westerns. Her greatest joy was time spent with her beloved dog Mattie, family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her grandson Derick Sinor; her sisters Liz Kennedy, Marilyn Bell and Beverley Jack. Anne is survived by her children, Victoria (James) Filbert, Eric (Jacki) Goetz, Charles (Allison) Goetz, and Virginia (Patrick) Wetherby. She is also survived by her sister, Cathy Toole, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
A Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at 4:00 pm at Emerald Coast Funeral Home. The family will receive friends one hour prior.
