Addie Mae Roebuck

July 5, 1961 ~ September 10, 2021 (age 60) 60 Years Old

Tribute

July 5, 1961, was not just any ordinary day; it was the day that Addie Mae Ellis entered the world and was destined for greatness. Born in Biloxi, MS, she was a gift to the late L.C. Ellis and Willie Mae Williams. Addie was the baby girl of the family. When Addie was two years old, the family moved from Biloxi, MS to Letohatcee, AL and then they moved to Wichita, KS when Addie was four years old. She accepted Christ by joining the Rising Star Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. J.D. Mackey. Addie was educated in the Wichita Public School System and was a graduate of Wichita West High School in June of 1979. Addie knew the importance of a good education. She prepared for not only her career but also for life. Of her many gifts and talents, helping others was her greatest passion. Her career choice was to become a registered nurse. She obtained her graduation certificate for a Licensed Practical Nurse attending the Vocational Technical School in Wichita, KS.

After graduating, Addie met her former spouse, Phillip Roebuck, Sr., and their union was blessed with three sons and one daughter. In pursuit of her RN Degree, she attended Butler Community College in Wichita, KS. After traveling to some parts of the United States and overseas to Germany, due to her Phillip being a member of the United States Air Force, his tour of duty brought the family to Ft. Walton Beach, Fl. Addie began her career working at Ft. Walton Beach Medical Center. She started as a LPN in FWBMC Surgical Care Unit. She earned her RN Degree from Northwest Florida State College and continued working in the Surgical Care Unit as Relief Charge Nurse. Addie transitioned to Case Management and remained in the Surgical Care Unit until she transferred as Progressive Care Unit Care Manager. She was promoted to Lead Case Manager and then Manager for the Progressive Care Unit. Addie worked at FWBMC for over 25 years and was currently working on her Business and Master Degree. Addie was truly a nurse from the heart and she nurtured every life she came in contact with. Addie never met a stranger and when she finished talking with you, you would feel like an old friend reuniting for the first time in many years. In the workplace, she was a very dedicated and valuable employee. If it was wrong, she would let you know. She valued her job tremendously. She also loved her family and no grass ever grew under Addie’s feet because she was always on the road on a mission for someone in need, a true missionary.

Addie leaves to cherish her life and legacy through her devoted children, Michael Cortez Ellis, Richard Lynn Roebuck, Tiffany Monique Roebuck, and Phillip Vance Roebuck, Jr. Eight siblings: Rev. Juliette Griffin, Letohatchee, AL, Doris (John) Hollis, Huntsville, AL, Mable Barnes, Darrell Barnes, Lewis Ellis, Larry (Andrea) Ellis, Randall Williams and Steve Williams, all of Wichita, KS.
