Loving, caring, joyful…three words that are Adam Grillone.
Adam passed away peacefully after a brief, unexpected illness on May 19, 2023. He was 60 years old.
Adam was a “new year’s baby”, born on January 1, 1963. Fun Fact: Adam’s mother was also a “new year’s baby” born on January 1, 1938. They were born in the same hospital, exactly 25 years apart!
He grew up in Waterloo, NY, and graduated from high school in 1982. He was the starting quarterback for the football team and played trumpet in the band. Throughout his childhood and teenage years Adam was part of the Grillone family business where he developed strong work ethics and values; both of which shaped the rest of his adult life. He was employed as a chemical plant operator, hardware store associate, and seafood sales associate. Adam and his wife Lisa also owned a successful carpet cleaning company in Niceville, FL for many years. His love of music led Adam to become a member of the Emerald Coast Barber Shop Quartet group.
Adam treated everyone equally, with dignity and respect. His friendships were 100% unconditional. In other words, he loved you and dropped everything he was doing to help you. AND HE NEVER EXPECTED PRAISE OR ANYTHING IN RETURN. He was easy to befriend. After a five-minute conversation with him, complete strangers would often comment: “I just met Adam but feel like I’ve known him all my life!”
It was common to hear Adam before you saw him. His booming voice announced his pending arrival with the all too familiar “CALM DOWN !!” or “ATTA BOY !!” Your bad day was about to improve as soon as you heard his voice.
Adam Grillone shined a light of hope, humanity, and humor on everyone he encountered, every day of his life. He positively impacted the lives of thousands of people. If we are to honor the life of Adam, we should continue in his footsteps by treating people with love, care, and joy.
He is survived by Lisa, his loving wife of 23 years; brothers David (LuAnn) Grillone, and Daniel (Kelly) Grillone, daughters Kristin (Tim) Sandroni, Jessica (Angelo) Mango, Paige (Greg) Sikes-Mitchell, son Steven Grillone; three grandsons, Hayden, Steven, and Oliver; two granddaughters Sedona and Addie; and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, and grand-nephews.
He is predeceased by his parents, Anthony E. Grillone and Barbara J. Grillone (Ferguson).
Friends and family will celebrate Adam’s beautiful life on Monday, May 22nd from 4-7 pm at Jo-Jo’s Coffee Shop located at 4652 Highway 20 East in Niceville, Florida. A separate Celebration of Life will be held in his hometown in Waterloo, NY at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, because of Adam’s love of animals, donations can be made to the Pet Welfare Adoption Center on Eglin AFB, FL at 683 Range Road, 850-678-5066. https://www.petwelfare.net/index.html
