John Duard Roberts

John “Duard” Roberts, age 88, of Destin, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday, January 12, 2020.  Duard was born on April 13, 1931 to parents, John Duard “Duke” Roberts and Irene Thomas.  He was married to Essie Anderson Roberts on April 14, 1956 and enjoyed 63 wonderful years of marriage.  He graduated from Southeastern Louisiana University and was a devoted LSU fan.  He served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He remained a lifetime member of the American Legion Nicholson Post 38.  He was a member of First Baptist Church of Destin and Destiny Worship Center in Miramar Beach.  He was laid to rest on Wednesday, January 15, 2020 at Beal Memorial Cemetery next to his parents.

He is survived by his loving wife, Essie Roberts of Destin; daughter, Rhonda Lamendola and husband, Lou; son, Buddy Roberts; daughter, Lori Moore and husband, Gerald; granddaughter, Karrie Delise and husband, Brad; grandson, Jason Roberts and wife, Valory; grandson Jeffrey Roberts and wife, Briana; granddaughter, Katie Moore; and grandson, Connor Moore.  He had 4 great grandchildren, Landon and Brayden Roberts and Ava Kate and Beaux Roberts. 

He was a strong man with a kind heart.  He had a great sense of humor and a fierce love for people and animals.  He was truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.  The family would like to express thanks to all who touched his life in our wonderful community.
