Teddy J. Austin, age 90, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away on February 10, 2017. He was born in Cross Plains, TX on May 23, 1926, to the late John M. and Myrtle Wills Austin. He graduated with a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech in 1951 through the ROTC and GI Bill after serving proudly in the US Army. He then continued to serve his country as a civil servant with the US Air Force, retiring after 51 years on March 3rd, 2001. As a civil servant, he was honored to receive the Engineer of the Year Award Later, he was involved with the development of the Hellfire Missle, leading him to exclaim that he worked with a group of world class individuals. A life long member, he was devoted to the Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee (Knight) Austin, parents, and sister Trixie. Teddy is survived by his daughters, Danon Lawrence of Ft. Walton Beach; Erin Allen of Colorado Springs; his grandson John Allen and John’s children Thorin and Kylie, of Colorado Springs. A funeral service will take place on Friday, February 17 at 2pm at the Church of Christ of Fort Walton Beach. The family will receive visitors an hour prior to the service. Interment will take place at Beal Memorial Cemetery following the service.
