Sarah Elizabeth “Liz” Perkins, 89 of Shalimar, Florida passed away October 11th while returning home from a trip to New Mexico.  Her travels included attending her grandson’s wedding, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, and visiting her granddaughter’s new home in Wichita Falls, Texas.

Liz was born in Clyde, Texas in 1928. She married William “Bill” Marshall Perkins in 1950 while he was stationed at Williams Air Force Base in Chandler, Arizona. Liz and Bill raised two sons while they traveled from base to base in the military but eventually settled in Del Rio, Texas in 1968 until moving to Florida in 2012.

Liz is survived by her husband Bill, sister Jessie Miller and husband Bob of Oracle, Arizona. Her children, Marshall Perkins, Jr. and wife Jacque of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and Frank Perkins and wife Beverly of Fort Walton Beach, Florida. She also cherished her grandchildren that knew her as Mamaw: Bill Perkins III, Gennifer Perkins, Franklin Perkins and wife Dalila, Kristy Jacob and husband Toby, Heather Perkins, and great-grandson, Christopher South.

She was preceded in death by her father Frank Minton, mother Ruth Minton, infant brother Johnny, and brother James. Liz enjoyed a lifetime full of activities including camping with the Amistad SAMS and the Texas Military Retiree RV Clubs, bowling, fishing, painting, playing cards, and spending time with her family. She was especially proud of her four Eagle Scouts.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, October 20 at 10:00 followed by a Celebration of Life Service at 11:00 officiated by Jeff Stovall at Deloris Hope All Faiths Chapel at the Air Force Enlisted Village in Shalimar, Florida. There will be a private family interment at the Barrancas National Cemetery later that afternoon.
