Robert Barrett, age 78, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away on April 17, 2017.  He was born to Alfred and Catherine (Flynn) Barrett on November 7, 1938 in Bronx, NY.  He will be remembered for being a loving husband and father.  He served 24 years in the US Air Force serving two years in the Vietnam War and retired as an Aircraft Armament Systems Superintendent and thereafter 17 years in Civil Engineering.  He was very patriotic and he loved his Irish heritage.  He and his wife visited Ireland 12 times over the years, making many friends.  He was well known in the area as the “World’s Tallest Leprechaun.”  He will be missed by many.  He is survived by his loving wife Elta (Armstrong), aka: mom, DD; children, Patricia (Randy) Fidler and Michael (Sherrie) Barrett; grandchildren, Caitlin, Gabriel, and Gavin Fidler, Christopher, Ryan, and Colin Barrett and numerous friends.  A celebration of life with full military honors will be held on Apr. 22 at 2:00 PM at Emerald Coast Funeral Home.
