Noberta Gonzalez Rogers, 84, joined our Lord on September 11, 2017.  Mrs. Rogers was affectionately known to her family as “Nanny”.  Her loving husband of 64 years, Dudley, and her four children, Rose Marie Spafford (Mark), Judith Lynn Watson (Jeff), Kenneth D. Rogers (Sonja), and Jeffery A. Rogers (fiancée Susan P. Hagstrom) survives her. She also leaves behind grandchildren, Jamie Pitts, Lindsey Burns, Jonathan Spafford, Lauren Freel, Kyle Rogers, Ashley Watson, Danielle Rogers, and Lewis Rogers.  Her sister, Maria del Socorro Farias of Garciasville Texas and extended family in Texas and Florida, also survives Noberta.  Noberta Rogers was born February 7, 1933 in LaGrulla, Texas, where she was raised by her loving father, Jose “Papa” Gonzalez.  Her mother, Rosa, died when Noberta was very young.  She moved to Ft. Walton Beach, Florida in 1952 where she met and fell in love with Dudley while working at the Star Theater.  She married into the Rogers family, lived in Ft. Walton before moving to Destin in 1977.  Later they moved to Babbie, Alabama in 2005, and moved again to Santa Rosa Beach in 2014.  Mrs. Rogers was preceded in death by her mother, Rosa and father Jose Gonzalez, four brothers and one sister.   Funeral services will be held on September 18, 2017 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road NW, Ft. Walton.  Visitation is at 10:00 followed by services at 11:00. Graveside services will be held at the Destin Cemetery followed by a reception at the Destin Community Center.  Pastor Joey Rogers and Pastor Charlie Satterwhite will officiate.  The family would like to thank the staff at Brookdale and Emerald Coast Hospice for their loving care.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Emerald Coast Hospice, 200 Grand Blvd. Ste 205-A, Miramar Beach, FL 32550 in Noberta’s memory.
