Maurice Harlin Forbargd age 94
Maurice entered life in 1922 as the son of Parnell S. and Rose M. (Collins) Forbragd in Clark County, South Dakota. He lived his early life in South Dakota rural and city communities and completed his education thru High School in those communities. Maurice completed his life’s journey March 19, 2017 and has gone to his eternal rest with the Lord, His Maker, His redeemer, and His Comforter.
After completion of High School in 1940 he began his life’s career with in US Government Service. He continued his service to his country until August of 1977. During his career he served in Civilian, Enlisted and Officer Status. His service was primarily with the Department of Defense and minor tours with other agencies of the US Government also serving in WWII, Vietnam & Korea. During his service, he attended Iowa State University, the US Air Force Institute of Technology, numerous Graduate Schools, and several short courses in specialized Military and Civilian Schools. Early in his military career, he was involved in Logistical Duties, while most of his career he was involved in various Research and Development duties. In addition to his professional duties, he served in many capacities in professional, vocational, avocational, service and church organizations. Maurice has always been known as an initiator, achiever and a leader of people.
Those who have gone to rest before him are his parents, one nephew and one niece. Those who observing his departure are his loving wife of 75 years and devoted mother of their son- Helen E. Forbragd, their son Malcolm D. Forbragd of Gainesville, FL, four nephews, and three first cousins.
During his lifetime, he always believed that one should do the best he or she can with what they have, and live every golden minute of life doing good for others. His hopes are to be remembered in that manner.
Service and Inurnment arrangements are entrusted to the care and handling of the Emerald Coast Funeral Home. Inurnment services will be held Thursday, March 30th at 11 AM at Beal Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach in the Mausoleum. Maurice felt that floral arrangements are for the living so thereby, request a donation to your favorite charity or Rotary’s Health-Hunger Humanity Program in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated by the family.
