Lorraine McConnell Lahr
Lorraine Lahr, age 91, of Fort Walton Beach, FL, passed away on June 13, 2017. She was born to George and Margaret McConnell on January 18, 1926 in Fountain Hill, PA. She located to Fort Walton Beach in 1965.
Lorraine graduated from the Pennsylvania Hospital Training School for Nurses in 1946. She worked at the old Fort Walton Beach Hospital from 1968 until 1974. She opened what is now Fort Walton Beach Medical Center as the Assistant Director of Nursing and worked there until her retirement in 1994.
Lorraine, in her active years, enjoyed fishing and would frequently participate in the Destin Fishing Rodeo. She enjoyed playing Bridge and bowling. She was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach, a deacon and a member of the choir.
Lorraine was predeceased by her parents, husband Ernest Lahr, daughter Linda Lahr Staub, brother George McConnell, Jr. and sister Margaret (Myron) Thompson. Lorraine is survived by her children, Bruce Lahr, David and Kim Lahr, and Christopher Lahr; her grandchildren, Matthew (Brooke) Lahr, Marissa (Nate) Tracy and Michael (Miranda) Lahr; her great grandchildren, Wyatt and Noah Lahr; her brother, Peter McConnell; and her extended family of nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Music Memorial Fund at First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach which is located at 134 SW Beal Parkway, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the First Presbyterian Church of Fort Walton Beach.
