Laura Kellen

Annie Laura Kellen(née Brooks), 88, of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, passed away on April 5, 2024. She was born on May 25, 1935, in Siler City, North Carolina.

Laura had a long career at White Wilson Medical Center, where she dedicated her time working at the front desk and switchboard, providing compassion and assistance to all who crossed her path. Laura also had a love for gardening.

Heaven gained a precious angel full of grace and kindness. She always knew either in words or actions, how to help others put their trust in God. She knew you needed a hug even before you did. She gave hope and made others' lives brighter. If you crossed her path, you were told how precious you are. She listened without interruption as your value was so keenly understood to be worthy of her time, she exemplified selflessness. Genuine, caring, forgiving, faithful, welcoming, loyal, funny, smart, and kind were a collection of words those who knew her will forever use in saying her name. 

She is preceded in death by husbands Archie Mack Jones and Levern Jerome Kellen.

She is survived by son Keith (America) Jones, daughter Coni (Michael) Cunningham, step-daughter Eileen (Tim) Jett, grandsons Brandon (Amanda) Lovelette, Ryan (Ashley) Jones, step-grandson Alex Jett, granddaughters Cherie (B. Jason) Turner, Kristin (Lucas) Wall, step-granddaughters Anna (Aaron) Jones, Lauren (Ethan) Montez, 12 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-granddaughters, and brother Jimmy Brooks, along with extended family and friends.

Services for Laura will be held at Emerald Coast Funeral Home in Fort Walton Beach. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, April 9, from 12:00 pm until 1:00 pm, followed by a service beginning at 1:00 pm.  A short graveside ceremony will then be conducted following the service at Beal Memorial Cemetery.
