In LOVING MEMORY
Douglas Carol Waters
November 3, 1926 – March 13, 2017
Born during the Great Depression, Doug Waters grew up in Montgomery Alabama, the seventh of eight children. During World War II, he joined the Navy, but was returned home from Guam when they found out he was only 17 years old. He met and married JoAnn Isringhausen, and brought her to Fort Walton Beach in 1954 where he got a job as an Electronics Technician at the Climatic Laboratory on Eglin Air Force Base. Doug and JoAnn raised three wonderful daughters and lived in Fort Walton Beach the rest of their lives. Although Doug was forced into early medical retirement, he remained an active handy man for family, friends, and neighbors. He was a kind, quiet man that enjoyed tinkering and having coffee with friends.
Doug passed quietly at home on Monday under the care of family and Hospice. His dear wife, JoAnn Waters, his siblings, and daughter Sandy Nelson, precedes him in death. He is survived by his eldest daughter Sara and her husband Ty Hand, youngest daughter Lisa and her husband Buddy Goldsmith; five grandsons, Joshua Nelson and wife Rosalee, Jordan Nelson and wife Megan, Matthew Moreau and wife Cheryl, Kyle Moreau and wife Kathryn, and Orry Goldsmith and fiancé Kylie Kuntz; and four great-grandchildren, Jayce Daniel and Kaidyn Nelson, Jordyn Dawn Nelson, and Autumn Moreau.
Services will be held on Saturday, March 18th, 11:00AM, at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Road, Fort Walton Beach. After the memorial service, the family will meet at Beal Memorial Cemetery where Mr. Waters will be quietly laid to rest next to his wife JoAnn. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Emerald Coast Hospice, 340 Beal Parkway NW Suite C, Fort Walton Beach, FL 32548.
