David William Becker, age 71, passed away suddenly July 7, 2017, while working (as he was known to always do). Mr. Becker was a very devoted husband to his cherished wife, Carol Becker and is survived by her and seven children, 31 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
David was a veteran of the Vietnam War, where he was a crew chief and flight engineer and retired in 1972. He gave his heart to God in 1974 and carried the shield of God with him from that time forward. He was known as "The Modern Blacksmith". He farried horses all through the Panhandle and won Third place in the world in the Eagle Eye horseshoe making contest for 3 years and was also one of the world’s best Heart Bar Specialist for lame horses.
He grew up in Illinois on a dairy and pig farm before going into the Air Force. He retired from Eglin Air Force Base and settled in this area. He worked the Whitesands Arabian Horse Farm where he started The Modern Blacksmith and has served the Panhandle area ever since. He was well respected by those that were blessed to know him. He was the gentlest hardworking Christian man that will be deeply missed by his family and all that knew him.
Funeral Services will be held at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home161 Racetrack Road NW, Fort Walton Beach, Florida., July 13, 2017 with visitation and viewing at 5:00 PM., and funeral service starting at 6:00 PM.
Burial will take place on Friday July 14, 2017 at the Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola at 12:00 noon, there will be no procession, family & friends will meet at the cemetery, by 11:30 AM.
