Christianne Gibson, age 68, passed away peacefully at home in Fort Walton Beach on April 11, 2017.  She was born in Pensacola, Florida in September of 1948 and was a lifelong resident of Okaloosa County.

Chris graduated from Choctawhatchee High School and later from The University of West Florida with a degree in Education.  After a brief teaching career she returned home where she co-owned and operated Cooling & Heating, Inc. with her brother, before having to retire due to health issues.

She is preceded in death by her parents, John W. Gibson, Sybil W. Gibson and her step-mother, Audrey E. Gibson.

Chris served two terms as a Fort Walton Beach City Council Woman and was a long-time benefactor of the Heritage Park and Cultural Center. She was a Charter Member of the Friends of the Museum and served on its Board of Directors for many years.  She was active in archaeological interests in Fort Walton Beach and worked tirelessly to preserve the local history. She will be remembered for her endless devotion to her community and family and her countless acts of generosity to all that knew her.

Survivors include her sister, Jacquelyn G. Alwin and her husband Mark, her brother, John Mark Gibson and his wife, Jacqueline, nieces, Kristen Alwin Carbone and her husband Frank, and Kendall Nicole Gibson along with numerous aunts and cousins.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Saint Simon’s on the Sound Episcopal Church, 25 Miracle Strip Parkway S.W., Fort Walton Beach, Fl, 32548. Following interment at the Brooks Memorial Cemetery, Fort Walton Beach, Fl., a reception will take place at Aunt Martha’s Bed & Breakfast, 315 Shell Ave. SE, Fort Walton Beach, FL.

The family would like to express their deepest appreciation to the many devoted caregivers and close friends who throughout the years made it possible for Chris to live an active fulfilled life in spite of her extended illness.
