Charles L. Farris

1934-2017

Charles L. Farris, age 83, CMSgt.USAF, retired, entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in a local hospital with his family by his side. He was born February 8, 1934 in Clinchburg, VA to Ernest H. and Laura M. Farris. Charles spent 22 years in the Air Force followed by 26 in Civil Service as a communications project/program manager. He retired in 2004 at Eglin A.F.B. He was a member of Generations United Church in Niceville, FL.

 He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty. M. Boardwine; sister-in-law, Ruby Farris; and an infant brother, Johnny P. Farris. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Bobbie A. Farris of Niceville, FL; sons, Charles R. Farris of Niceville, FL;  Kevin L. Farris of Destin, FL; grandson, Charles R. Farris, Jr and his wife Sierra of Niceville, FL; granddaughter, Meagan M. Hall and her husband Andrew of Pekin, IL; three great grandchildren, Ethan Dale, Christian Riley and Mackenzie Grace Hall all of Pekin, IL; three brothers, William B. Farris of Marion, VA; James E. Farris and wife Kay of Meadowview, VA; Ted O. Farris and wife Toni of Gallup, NM; and two sisters, Laura E. Coe, and Nina R. Crabtree and her husband John of Marion, VA.

Family will receive friends from 5-7 p.m.  on Friday, June 23, 2017 at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 161 Racetrack Rd, N.W. Fort Walton Beach, FL 32547. Additional services and Interment will be under the direction of the D.R. Henderson Funeral Home, 148 East Main Street, Saltville, VA, 24370, 276-496-4441.
