Edward J. Hennegan, age 93 passed away on Wednesday, July 9, 2014. Visitation will be Sunday, July 13th from 4-6p.m at Emerald Coast Funeral Home, 113 Racetrack Rd NE, Ft. Walton Beach, FL. Funeral Service will be at St. Mary Catholic Church, 110 St Mary Ave SW, Fort Walton Bch, FL on Monday, July 14th at 10a.m followed by burial at Beal Memorial Cemetery. He was born in Cincinnati, Ohio on 25 April 1921. He had one older brother, Thomas, who preceded him in death in 2008. He graduated from Norwood High School, Norwood, Ohio in 1939 and joined the Army Air Corps in June of 1942. He went to flying school and became a B-17 pilot flying missions out of England. He was shot down over Germany in September of 1944 and was Prisoner of War in Stalag Luft 1 on the Baltic Sea. He retired in 1976 as Lt. Colonel with 30 years of service. His oldest son, Edward J. Hennegan, Jr. predeceased him in May 2004. He has two daughters, Mary T. D’Amato and Mary P. Marshall, three sons, Richard T. Hennegan, Jams G. Hennegan, and Thomas M. Hennegan. He is survived by his wife Phyllis A. Hennegan, 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 step children; 4 step grand-children; and 1 step great grandchild.
